Dan Meis will kick off the Spring 2015 Business Leaders Lecture Series on Wednesday, February 11, with a talk focusing on the business of designing modern sports facilities, specifically the stadium currently in the works for the soccer team AS Roma. Recognized as one of the world’s foremost designers of sports and entertainment venues, Dan Meis, FAIA (Fellow of the American Institute of Architects), has over 30 years of experience in sports and entertainment architecture. Mr. Meis is currently the Lead Designer for the new Stadio Della Roma project planned for the AS Roma soccer team. He led the team that presented the project in 2014,with the mayor of Rome, Ignazio Marino, and the President of AS Roma, James Pallotta. He will also be visiting with Prof John Genzale’s Sports Management and Sports Facilities & Events Management courses.

Mr. Meis is perhaps best known for his design of Los Angeles’s Staples Center stadium, which continually ranks among the highest revenue-producing buildings in North America. In addition, he designed Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium, the first NFL facility ever to win an AIA Honor Award. Time Magazine listed Mr. Meis as one of their “100 Innovators in the World of Sports” in 2001, and his work has twice been awarded the prestigious Business Week/Architectural Record Award, recognizing the value of design to a client’s business. Mr. Meis has also been recognized twice as one of Sports Business Journal’s “40 under 40” executives who have made the greatest impact in the sports industry. In 2006, he was named to the College of Fellows of the AIA and, in 2007, he launched Meis Architects, with offices in LA and New York.

This event is will be held in the AUR Auditorium, Via Pietro Roselli No. 16 and is open to the public.
